Terms of Use
Last updated: August 16, 2026
By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What the tools are
Word Sieve provides free, browser-based word solvers. They run on your device against a word list shipped with the site, so what they return is determined entirely by that list: ENABLE1, a public-domain English word list of 172,820 entries. Every result is a statement about the contents of that file and nothing more. The methodology page sets out how the list is indexed, both of the ways the solver searches it, and where it stops — and that is part of understanding what you are being told.
The word list is not a game's word list
ENABLE1 is a general English word list. It is not the official word list of any game, and this site does not use, ship, or reproduce the proprietary tournament lists — TWL and NWL in North America, Collins elsewhere. A word found here may be refused by a game judging against one of those, and a word your game accepts may be absent from ENABLE1. This site is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any word game or its publisher; any game named anywhere on this site is named only to describe compatibility honestly.
What a result is not for
This is a general-purpose word utility — puzzles, games, crosswords, writing, curiosity. It is not an authority on what is or is not a word, and it is not built for anything where being wrong carries consequences. Do not rely on it to settle a dispute, to validate a play in a competition governed by a specific lexicon, or as a source for any decision of substance. Where the answer matters, consult the dictionary that actually governs your situation. If a result here disagrees with that dictionary, that dictionary is the one that counts.
No account, so nothing to terminate
There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. You are not a user of a service in the ordinary sense; you are someone loading a page that computes something. There is nothing for us to suspend or close, and nothing for you to cancel.
Nothing is held here, so nothing can be restored
Nothing you type is stored anywhere — not on a server of ours, and not on your own device, as the privacy policy sets out in full. There is no history, no saved rack and no support route that could produce one, for anybody, including you and including us. If you want to keep a result, copy it before you leave the page. That is the same property that keeps your letters out of everyone else's reach, and it is stated here as a term of use rather than left to be discovered.
Provided as it is
The site and its tools are provided as they are and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied terms and conditions of every kind are excluded, including any implied term as to satisfactory quality, merchantability, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose, and no assurance is given that the site will be available, that any result will be right for your purpose, or that any page will behave identically on every browser or device. What is claimed about the results is claimed on the pages themselves — that they are the contents of a named word list — and nothing here should be read as an assurance beyond it.
Use it at your own risk
You are responsible for deciding whether a word this site returns is one you should use, and for checking it against whatever authority governs what you are doing.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of the site, including any game lost, dispute mislaid or submission rejected on the strength of a result taken here. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Content, data and sources
The text, code and generated files on this site are the operator's own work, with one deliberate exception: the shipped word list. ENABLE1 was compiled by M. Leo Cooper and Alan Beale and released into the public domain by its authors, and it is redistributed here unmodified apart from a single trailing newline; the full record is served at wordlist/PROVENANCE.md. Nothing about these terms restricts what you may do with that file — it is in the public domain, and it remains so regardless of its presence here. Anything the tools compute for you is yours to use, for anything you like.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it abusively, present it as your own, or use it in violation of applicable law.
Changes
The tools and these terms may change over time. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the updated terms; the date at the top of this page tells you when it last moved.
